NOOOOOO.....ask the vet for a sedative for the trip...they are not expensive.

You risk killing it. If you won't see a vet for a sedative, you could try giving the dog a spoonful or two of chamomille tea, or put a 1/4 teaspoon of the dried leaves in her food. This will gently and safely relax your dog.

No! What is it with all these people trying to give human prescription meds to their dogs or leave it lying around for the dog to get to?? Talk to your vet about giving her a small dose of dramamine. It will make her drowsy, but don't bother if she's not easily stressed out.

Talk to the vet! They prescribe medication for dogs everyday. There are many types of sedatives and tranquilizers for dogs and they are not expensive. Your vet will know what medication will best suite your dog and your dog's needs for this flight. He will also know the correct dosage for your dog!

The only "opinion" you need or should take seriously is your vet's. Call your vet and ask this question.

nothing should be given to a dog without contacting the vet. getting the dose wrong for the weight of the dog could be a disaster and kill the dog. encourage her to talk to the vet. and get proper medication. what would she do in mid flight if things go wrong with the dog? chances of a vet. being on the plain are slim.

Many Airlines will NOT allow sedation of an animal flying. If they think it has been medicated, they can dump it from the flight. A sedated dog has a harder time regulating temp, and can overheat easily. Check with the airline you are using and find out. If you CAN medicate the dog, see a vet for a proper sedative.....but I doubt you will be allowed to use any.

You could call the vet if you don't wanna go in or have the funds and ask if you could give it CHILDREN'S benadryl. I had to give this to my Schnauzer for itching but it made him very sleepy too.

NO! Never give human medications without cunsulting your vet first? What if the dog has a reaction to the medication, or your mom accidently over-doses.. there are no vets on the flight to treat the dog! Your vet can prescribe a medication that is intended for dogs to help keep the dog calm.
