It's very likely you'll have to change flights at some point, if there's no direct flight between the two cities. Expect a travel time of at least nine hours.

I agree witht the first respondant, I live in Ontario, and unless you go Air Canada or Charter, the American airlines route you through Detroit MI, Milwaukee WI, Newark NJ, Washington DC or Charlotte NC. Some of them take 5-6 hours from Toronto, so you might be best to fly to Seattle and see why transpires, go on to Expeida.ca and type in the destinations but from Seattle to Tampa, and see what times you see, other then that a flight to Toronto and a direct to Tampa threw Air Canada, trouble is you might be looking at over $1000 for that flight.
