Would a major league team in Puerto Rico work?
It's about a 4 hour plane ride from Atlanta to San Juan, a 3 hour flight from Tampa, and 2 and a half hour flight from Ft. Lauderdale (Marlins don't use Miami International). As far as teams from the west coast having to go to PR they could just do it while on an east coast road trip. Mets and Marlins are playing there right now and both games have been packed.

I don't think so. The economy there is not strong enough to support a team over a full season...
